这首诗署名通常是泰戈尔，但是泰戈尔的诗集中并无此篇。实为网上无名氏集体创作，托名泰戈尔，源头已难以考证。

有一条鱼生活在一片海域里，它每天就是不停的游来游去。一天，有一只迷途的鸟儿飞过这片海域的上空，它很疲倦，低下头寻找海中的一片陆地，水里的鱼觉得水面的光线变得有些昏暗，就抬头望向天空，这样，鱼和鸟的视线交织到了一起。孤独的鱼和迷途的飞鸟深深地彼此吸引着对方。
飞鸟给鱼讲辽阔的天空，讲广袤的大地，……鱼给飞鸟讲深邃的海洋，……它们为彼此打开了一扇未知的却又丰富多彩的窗；

《飞鸟与鱼》（又名《世界上最遥远的距离》）出自《飞鸟集》，是印度诗人泰戈尔创作的诗集。这本诗集包括325首无题诗，其中绝大多数的诗只有一两行，或者捕捉一个自然景观，或者述说一个事理。诗集并没有明显的逻辑结构和明确的中心，只是诗人在日常生活中的感触、思考、情思的片段的记录。
《飞鸟集》创作于1913年，初版于1916年完成。《飞鸟集》其中的一部分由诗人译自自己的孟加拉文格言诗集《碎玉集》（1899），另外一部分则是诗人1916年造访日本时的即兴英文诗作。诗人在日本居留三月有余，不断有淑女求其题写扇面或纪念册。诗人曾经盛赞日本俳句的简洁，他的《飞鸟集》显然受到了这种诗体的影响。
《飞鸟集》是印度诗人泰戈尔创作的诗集，它包括325首清丽的无标题小诗，首次出版于1916年。这些诗的基本题材多为极其常见事物，不外乎小草、落叶、飞鸟、星辰、河流等等。
