柳/刘--Liu/Lau刘的对应写法应该是Lau国际英语的写法是按广东话的读音的，也就是写为Lau,刘在广东话的发音类似于汉语“漏”的发音，而不是拼音“liu”。但是大部分中国人不懂广东话，而又不能不翻译“刘”这个字，故他们常用拼音“Liu”来代替。而在英语中“Liu”的发音不同于汉语拼音中的“liu”的，也就是写拼音是不正确的。
